Dj/producer Mike Richards was born in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) in the year 1983. It was at the age of 17 when he came in close contact with house music. When he discovered the legendary "Superbimbo" club nights, he had the time of his life. Not even a year after that night he started working in dance club 'Now & Wow'. A warehouse situated in the heart of Rotterdam. Those club nights gave him the opportunity to be educated by the most popular dj's of that moment in time. In that period of his life Mike got bitten pretty hard by the house-bug.

 

Mike indulged himself in the wonderful world of house music and everything that came with it. That's how he learned to listen to the sound behind the sound. With all this creativity and passion it was inevitable that he would later develop a style and make it his own. Without music, and especially house music, Mikey would simply not survive.

 

The sound he made his own is almost indescribable, all you can say is that it will make you move. You have to hear it to get it. Mike grew up with all kinds of music. He used to listen to jazz, funk, soul, r'n'b, sixties and seventies rock and pop, all kinds of music. He tries to bring the quality and warmth of his musical upbringing to his dj sets. All he wants is the crowd to feel what he feels, it's all about the love for music. Best described as funky, groovy, and deep techno an tech-house, he feels the term: finger snappin’, head boppin’, booty shakin’ music seems more fitting. Artists like Wbeeza, Patrick Lindsey, Chateau Flight, Matt John, Letkolben, Josh Wink, Fritz Zander, Gregor Tresher and DJ Ali are on his top-ten list.

 

Venues Mike Has played at: Off Corso, Thalia, Maassilo, Vuig, Toffler, Prachtig, Nighttown, Bootleg DJ Cafe, Catwalk, Silly Symphonies, Monza, Zebralounge, De Opera (Middelburg), De Catacomben, Outland, Musica Republica, Le Bateau, De Blauwe Vis, Hal 4, Strand a/d Maas Rotterdam/Maastricht (resident), Escape, Club Tropicana, Waterfront, Vakzuid, Perron, Jimmy Woo, Asta (residency) and (the old) Now&Wow.

In 2004 he also ended on the forth place in the national 'Diesel-U-Music' dj contest. And at the height of his carrier Mike toured with Rulex thru Indianapolis, IN and Chicago, IL (USA). 

 

In 2008 Mike hosted an internet radio show called ‘Dutchalicious Radio’.

 

After an almost 4 year break Mikey is ready to get back in action. With almost a decade of producing experience, he is now ready to point his creativity in the right direction. As one of Rotterdam's best kept secrets, he is more than ready to be uncovered...
